Did you know that your computer can be compromised under the guise of protecting yourself against worms, trojan horses and viruses? These scams come on as a “free” virus scan but then wind up costing you $$ because the scan will show some sort of virus or worm– thus asking you to download an upgrade to your anti-virus system. This download will render your computer unuseable and often you have been charged for this “upgrade” that destroys your computer until you pay someone else to fix it. So you get hit twice! These fraudulent scams are growing daily and costing milliions each year– not only in repairs but lost time and data.
