Special forces storm militant hide-out in Dagestan 2010-06-17 Six militants have been killed in a security operation mounted in the Khasavyurt District, Dagestan, one of the republic’s federal security service spokesmen told RIA Novosti. On Wednesday morning, federal forces laid siege on a house in Stary Kostek village and called on those inside to give themselves up. The men responded by opening fire. One militant returned fire from the basement of the building, into which the security forces threw grenades. Following a battle lasting several hours, armored vehicles helped storm the house. During the operation four law enforcement personnel were killed and four more wounded.
