Part of the GE Choice Alert Wireless Alarm System
The GE 45136 Alarm Siren is part of the GE Choice Alert Wireless Alarm System line of products. Cost-effective and easy to install, Choice Alert components offer wireless operation, multi-zone coverage, home and away settings, all-weather function, and expandability for complete home protection.

With wireless capabilities, Choice Alert products require no complicated wiring, drilling or expensive installation costs. And because they are designed to be part of a self-contained system, there are no monthly usage charges. System components are simple enough for anyone to use, and they can be combined to provide a customized blanket of protection over your entire property.

Wireless Control Center for Device Monitoring
The entire Choice Alert Security System is designed around the Wireless Control Center, the system’s hub. The Control Center monitors every sensor that is wirelessly connected to it. As many as four sensors can be programmed in each of four zones, giving you the security of up to 16 sensors to guard your entire home.

The Wireless Control Center allows you to secure your system with a custom four-digit code that can be changed at any time. Plus, the center lets you control many system features. For example, you can select ‘Home’ mode for an instant alarm and ‘Away’ mode for a delayed alarm. In addition to the armed alarm system, the Control Center also offers a visible and audible Zone Notification alert system (with a choice of continuous alert or single chime mode) and a dedicated alert zone (Zone 4). The center wirelessly transmits and receives signals up to 150 feet.

Additionally, the Wireless Control Center features a low-battery indicator that will alert you when battery power is low in a specific zone, so you’ll know exactly when to replace the batteries in every one of your components.

Combine Components for Total Home Coverage
To complement the Alarm Siren, there are several components available for use with the Wireless Control Center, including a door/window sensor, motion detector, water leak sensor, signal repeater (for enhanced wireless range), garage door sensor, and Silent Alert LED indicator. Add up to 16 sensors and give yourself the peace of mind that only complete home protection can provide.

Greater Sound Coverage with No Wiring Required
The GE 45136 Choice Alert Alarm Siren adds a 130-decibel alarm to your system for greater coverage of your backyard, second or third floor, basement, garage, storage shed, and more. The Alarm Siren will operate within 150 feet of your Wireless Control Center, making it ideal for expansive areas of your home. And you can add as many Alarm Sirens to you Choice Alert Security System as you please.

Installation is easy thanks to the siren’s plug-and-play design–simply plug the Alarm Siren’s AC adapter into a standard electrical outlet, pair it with the Wireless Control Center, and mount it in wood or drywall using the included screws. The siren features battery backup for continual operation during a power outage and a battery-life indicator.

The GE 45136 Choice Alert Alarm Siren is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

I have not been able to talk to anyone from GE tech support to answer some questions that I have regarding the operating characteristics of the the product which are not covered by the user manual.

1. If I am away on a trip and the alarm is triggered, how long will the alarm continue? I am expecting it to reset and disarm the system after some period of time.

2. I have a couple of door sensors that appear to have intermittant failures with detecting a closed door with the magnet/transmitter spacing of 1/8 of an inch between the red markings. There were two different senarios of failure. In one case, it did not detect the closing of the door and continues with the slow flashing light (not armed). In another case, it appeared to detect the closing but several hours later triggers the slow flashing light (not armed). In both cases, opening and closing the door was required to correct the problem. Rating: 1 / 5

I returned this item after realizing that the Choice Alert Control Center GE 45129 Choice-Alert Wireless Control Center is required.

I have a simple setup in mind – just a single motion center with a wireless alert. The control center can serve as the alert however so this item is unnecessary – this is an EXTRA alarm.

So, I give 3 stars but I really can’t rate the product, I don’t want to penalize it because I bought the wrong thing. Rating: 3 / 5

Delivery was very fast. The product did quit on me after two weeks, called GE about it. Customer service was very good. They had me send it back to be replaced, cost me $15.00 to send it back. I am still waiting for them to send it back, it is still in that reasonable time period. Rating: 4 / 5

I bought this 130-decibel siren to supplement the 120-decibel siren on the control center. It’s excellent. Both sirens sounding together are so incontinence-inducing and so painful that I can’t imagine any burglar would stick around trying to figure out how to disable the system. I have them in the same room, and because their two sounds aren’t entirely in sync, ear-piercing beats combine with the sounds of the sirens themselves and send my children running when I test the system.

If you want the neighbors alerted in the event of an intrusion, I’d recommend installing this extra siren outdoors in a dry spot–under a carport roof or beneath the boxing of a soffit; it mounts firmly with the included screws. Rating: 5 / 5
